Good evening! Well as most of you know by now, Meg made the "A" team for traveling basketball. We are so proud of her. I was crying and my hands were shaking when I found out. I was at the bestie's house for dinner. Meg was crying and shaking too. I took time to remind her that this is something she can be proud of and hang her hat on. She earned it all by herself. I can't believe what a young woman my Meg is turning into. Lord knows I wasn't as elegant and graceful at 10 like she is. Can't hardly wait to see her play. Watch her face light up when she takes the court. She truly is in her happy place there. So proud...wait, I think I've said that already.
In other news, we have nailed down the Halloween costumes early this year. And thanks to thrift store shopping, garage sales and hand-me-downs we'll be looking at about $15 total. Pretty good, I'd say. Nothing as spectacular as the year of Scooby Doo, but it will be cute nonetheless. Sarah Grace's choice is very appropriate this year for many reasons and she will be absolutely adorable. If you know Emily, you already know what she's gonna be. Meg's idea came from current events and the thrift store. Paulie is on the fence again. It's the age-old agrument in his head. The "I am too old to trick-or-treat" vs the "I don't want to miss out on candy". With Paulie, usually his sweet tooth wins out. If you don't believe me, just ask his Grandma Lesch and the order he puts in for desserts when we camp with her.
As we enter Fall, I'm also getting closer to hosting my very first Thanksgiving dinner. I am so excited. My Mom says that this excitement will go away after years of doing it, but I'm not so sure. One reason I've really enjoyed having daughters is that we can "craft" together. We're going to be sewing our own placemats, making name cards and making centerpieces. Meg, Sarah and I are very excited. I imagine Em will "help" as well, but she will probably take on the role of "assistant to the manager". This will probably entail her coloring or playing her DS while the girls and I do the work. I am very excited to teach them the basics of sewing. I mean, we're only talking a bunch of straight lines. This should be a cinch to teach them. I got the idea from an episode of Craft Wars.
One last thing before I sign off, I am very happy to announce that upon reviewing our DVR none of our regular broadcast shows are bumping into each other so they will all be watched/recorded. Those that know me well, know how important my little picture box is to me. I breathed a sign of relief when I realized I could watch Real Housewives of New York City while Paul is watching Sons of Anarchy. Anyway, happy tv watching!
Cheers Sweethearts!
Edited at 9:20 pm....Sarah Grace just appeared in the living room sleepy and in tears because she is second guessing her Halloween costume choice. So back to Goodwill I go tomorrow for the other. My ever-analytical child strikes again!!!!!!!
