Crazy busy weekend. We had lots of fun at a wedding yesterday. One of Paul's cousins got married. The wedding was outside and a bit chilly, but I just saw some pictures and they're beautiful. Weddings always make me a bit nostalgic. I imagine I'm not the only one. Reminds me of my wedding day. So much hope. The bright future ahead for the Bride and Groom. I always enjoy getting together with family we rarely see. I remember in my 20s it seemed like the weddings were every other weekend. But now, they come less often which, I think, is why I have come to love them so much. Especially, when I can just sit and take in the moment. So special.
The family and I traveled to Brooklyn Park today for a bit of Fall fun at the Twin Cities Corn Maze. We met up with Grandma and Grandpa B. there. Mom and I ended up following the wrong tall guy in a black jacket and got lost in the maze with no map. So, we headed towards the music and when we saw the flags we knew were close. Of course, that detour will probably be added to the list of things that I won't ever live down.
Speaking of never living it down, ever have one of those moments when you know your spouse is gonna give you the big "I told you so"? Had one of those yesterdays. For the last couple of years, my loved one has been trying to get me to park "correctly" in the garage. Always suspecting that I will introduce my side view mirror of my truck to the garage frame. Well...that happened Friday morning. There were a plethra of colorful adjectives that came from my mouth. Emily was most concerned. She didn't want her Daddy mad at her Mommy, so she suggested taking the car to the wedding instead of the truck so Daddy wouldn't see the damage. Alas, I fessed up and found out that this time I didn't just bend the mirror back, but busted some internal parts. Oops.
After the corn maze today, Emmy and I wanted to watch some Charlie Brown. We watched It's the Great Pumpkin, it's Election Day, The Mayflower Voyage and It's Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving episode prompted some talk about Peppermint Patty. Apparently, Emily does not like her because she gets mad when Snoopy makes toast, popcorn, pretzel sticks and jelly beans for the Thanksgiving feast. I say yea, she's kinda bossy. Too which my husband chimes in with, "it's a redhead thing"...Emily just looks at him...too which I respond "it's actually more of a girl thing". Sarah and Meg look at me like I'm crazy, because CLEARLY they don't boss anyone around (yeah right), but the beautiful 4 year old sitting on the couch says, "yea, you can be bossy Mommy, but I can be bossy too." Reaffirming my belief, that once again, I can learn something more from my children...humility.
Good family weekend. Lots of memories made. Have a great week everyone!
